Global Exploration

Aims

The purpose of the study tours is to expose our students to a wider range of learning experiences and opportunities in order to broaden their global vision. When studying with young people from various cultures, our students are readying themselves with creativity, communication skills, collaborative skills, discernment, values and citizenship which are key to future success.

Overview

Study tours take students beyond the familiar and the experience is turned into deep learning through reflective assignments and integration with different subjects. Our theme-based and curriculum-based study tours are not simply a chance for language practice; they also offer opportunities for students to get knowledge of culture, history, art, technology, learn about conservation and the university education of other countries.

Okinawa, Japan

Man Kwan Pak Kau College’s Okinawa 5-day exchange program has successfully been completed on 2nd July. 

On the first day of arrival, the students visited the Okinawa Peace Memorial Park to learn about the local history. This not only enriched their knowledge but also cultivated their international perspectives and cultural respect.

In this seaside city, the students also had their first experience planting coral seedlings and interacting with marine life, broadening their horizons and understanding the importance of ecological conservation. Additionally, all students and teachers wore traditional Okinawan costumes and performed together in a taiko drum performance, immersing themselves in the traditional Ryukyuan culture. 

During the five-day journey, the students had the opportunity to taste various unique Japanese cuisines and visit many different places. This exchange program not only allowed the students to learn new knowledge but also enhanced their cross-cultural communication skills and self-learning abilities.






Osaka, Japan

Organized by the Jockey Club Multiple Pathways Initiative “The CLAP-TECH Pathway” and Hong Kong Baptist University, the S5 CLAPTECH Osaka Study Tour was held from 27th to 30th June .

During the four-day itinerary, students visited the NHK Osaka to learn about the operations of Japan’s second largest television network. They also visited the Osaka Science Museum and The National Museum of Art, Osaka, where they learned about how multimedia can aid audience understanding. In addition, they visited Kyoto University, one of the world’s top 30 universities known as the cradle of Japanese scientists, which has produced 19 Nobel laureates.

They also visited the Osaka Museum of Housing and Living and Expo’70 Commemorative Park to learn about Osaka’s culture and history.

In between, they experienced the pulse of Osaka’s city life at the Kuromon Ichiba Market, Shinsaibashi, and Tennoji Park. At Tennoji Park, they also had the opportunity to witness one of Osaka’s three major summer festivals, the “Aizen Festival,” and experience the fusion of Japan’s past and present cultures up close.






Kyoto and Osaka, Japan

The students completed the “Kyoto and Osaka Deep Learning Culture Study Tour” on 1st July.

During the five-day journey, the students visited famous landmarks in Osaka and Kyoto such as Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori, Kuromon Ichiba Market, Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, Tsutenkaku Tower, and learned about the history of Osaka and its surroundings from places like the Osaka Museum of Housing and Living, Kitano Ijinkan, and Expo ’70 Commemorative Park. The itinerary also included visits to Kawasaki World and the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, providing an opportunity for the students to learn about the development of modern technology and infrastructure in Japan.

Additionally, they had the opportunity to experience traditional Japanese culture by making wagashi (Japanese sweets), trying on yukata (casual summer kimono), strolling down Hanami-koji, visiting Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and enjoying a chicken sumo hot pot.

This cultural study tour provided the students with an opportunity to deeply explore Japanese culture, and we hope that they were inspired to continue learning and exploring.





Qingdao, China

From 26th June to 1st July 2023, Principal Wong led a group of teachers and students to conduct the ‘Qingdao Artificial Intelligence STEAM Study Tour’.

During the study tour, teachers and students carried out different forms of visits and exchanges in Zibo and Qingdao. Through the visit to Zibo NO. 11 Middle School of Shandong Province, the understanding, communication and friendship between teachers and students in the two places have been promoted. In addition, Dr. Liu Xiwei, Senior Engineer of Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, lectured on ‘Advance and Application of Artificial Intelligence’ to the students, which benefited them a lot.

Shandong Province not only has a profound historical and cultural background but also is committed to the development of artificial intelligence, which shows the perfect combination of tradition and innovation.

The six-day-and-five-night study tour broadened the students’ horizons, and they were delighted and did not want it to end!

German and Austria

Man Kwan Educational Organisation ‘Joint Schools Nine-Day Cultural and Historical Exchange Tour in Eastern Europe’

From June 22nd to 30th, a total of 33 students from three schools under the Man Kwan Education Institution, embarked on a 9-day cultural and historical exchange tour to Germany and Austria.

During the 9-day itinerary, the students visited museums, concentration camps, and documentation centers related to World War II, learning about the harm caused by war to humanity and reflecting on how to achieve peaceful coexistence.

In addition, the students also visited three car manufacturers’ museums in Germany to gain an understanding of the rapid development of technology. In Austria, they enjoyed a musical and visited Mozart’s museum, enriching their cultural and artistic literacy.

During the 9-day exchange, the students appreciated the construction of different churches and stayed in different ancient cities. The students from the three schools learned and shared together, making the trip more fulfilling and satisfying.






Singapore

Our 2nd Cohort CLAP TECH PATHWAY-TECH BASICS students participated in the 4 days 3 night Singapore study tour in May. Besides visiting the National University of Singapore, we have also visited NEWater Visitor Centre, Urban Redevelopment Authority, and Singapore History Gallery, etc. Through the site visiting, we knew a lot about the relationship between Singapore’s city planning and sustainable energy development.

Also,there was an opportunity for students to visit the ITE COLLEGE EAST to exchange their learning experiences with the P-TECH students. On the same day, we also join the Robot Making Course provided by the College. At the event, we talked about ideas for further study and employ career planning, know more about industry development. Students learned a lot from this fruitful study tour.






Guangzhou, China

“Youth High Speed Rail Trip – Innovation and Technology Experience Tour” was organized by HKFYG and The Dragon Foundation from April 11th to 12th, 2023. Form 5 students spent two days and one night learning and exploring in the Greater Bay Area by high-speed rail. Their visit to Guangzhou and Foshan exposed them to innovative technology development.

Students learned about advanced industrial technology, smart building robots, unmanned driving technology, and the Guangzhou meteorological satellite ground station during exchange activities. Students can learn about the construction of the high-speed rail network as well as experience the convenience of high-speed rail travel.






London, UK

Students from our school participated in Bett UK held in London, UK. During the event, students shared their works and interacted with peers from around the world, learning about different cultures and experiences. Additionally, students were able to visit exhibitions to learn about the latest education technology and trends. This helped expand their knowledge and broaden their horizons, providing them with more opportunities for future development.

At the event, students also had the chance to network with various educational institutions and enterprises to learn about education and career development opportunities, helping them better plan for their future and prepare for their careers.






Okinawa, Japan

During the Joint-School Study Tour to Okinawa, students learn the 6C in deep learning through homestay experience, exchange with the local students and schools, artistic creation and ecological experience. The students enhance the effectiveness of self-improvement through self-evaluation and reflection.
